Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since late 1980s. She has been recognized for her TV and film performance since the 1980s. Her awards comprise two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised living in Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by her aunt in New York New York. Bassett along with her mother and sister were moved to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was five. Their father divorced their mother.
